We have been learning about the desert this week. At night in the desert it is really cold about freezing. In the day time it is very very hot. Some desert animals we know are cattle, camels, trap door spider, hyenas and scary scorpions they are poisonous. The houses in the desert are made of mud and stone.  We learned that more than one cactus is called cacti. This is some photo's of us making a model of the desert.

This term we have been learning all about the weather.

We used a jar, a balloon and a straw to make our own barometer.  A barometer measures air pressure.

We have done lots of experiments.

We have been learning about freezing and melting. We did an experiment to measure the melting point of ice. We found that ice freezes at 0 degrees celcius.

We have also learned about the water cycle, rainbows, and did our own weather forecasting.

My Body

Class 5A are having fun learning all about the human body this term. We have discovered what the heart does and below are some photos of us carrying out an experiment to discover how much air is in our lungs!

We went outside on a sunny day to learn about the bones that make up our skeleton.

The school nurse, Vicky Anderson, told us how to keep our bodies healthy. She showed us how to wash our hands and we used a special light to check how well we had done.
